The new house Champagne of Restaurant Bridges: Champagne Henriot
Since June, restaurant Bridges has a new house Champagne, the beautiful Henriot Brut Souverain from Champagne Henriot. Besides its complex and unforgettable taste, our Sommelier, Roos Stevens, has selected this Champagne because of its rich history.
Henriot Brut Souverain was the first cuvée to be created by Apolline Henriot in 1808. This Champagne is known to be a very refined, elegant and crisp style of Champagne, with a beautiful clean, long and persistent aftertaste.
Apolline Henriot was known for her statement that one year was not enough to tell the personality of a wine and therefore, she was aiming for a blend that represented all the periods of her vineyard. As a result, she combined wines from different years into one blend. Until this day, Maison Henriot is still family-owned, with the 8th generation as President, Gilles de Larouzière Henriot. The winemaking process is still in female hands, with cellar master Alice Tétienne at lead.
